Commuters and shoppers can get their caffeine fix from a new spot after a popular coffee shop linked up with a city institution.

Strangers Coffee recently announced it was setting up a pop-up at Jarrold, inside the Exchange Street entrance at the Bedford Street junction.

The company opened its doors to the public today (August 1) offering a range of rich blends.

Alex Sargeant, director of Strangers Coffee, said: "I'm super pleased with it and that we're officially open.

"It's a bit of an untested scenario but if you go into London you'll often find coffee stalls and carts in department stores like this.

"Having pride of place too in the entrance and next to the Norwich City store is wonderful - we didn't want people to have to try and find us among everything.

"It's been a long time - several months - in the making.

"It's all come into reality which is a nice feeling."

Strangers Coffee was established in 2009 and has stores in Pottergate, Dove Street and All Saints Green.

John Adams, Jarrold managing director, said: "We're really excited to be working with another Lanes business.

"We've had a relationship with Strangers Coffee for years now, as we sell bags of their coffee in our food hall.

"So it's great to develop that relationship and also provide hospitality to the ground floor, something we hadn't done until now."

Specialising in ethically-sourced coffee from countries such as Brazil, Ethiopia and Costa Rica, the shop's latest venture will offer takeaway service, as well as bags of pre-prepared beans, to Jarrold shoppers.

Alex added: "We're looking to open when the store is open, from 9.30am, but we may have a provision for Jarrold staff to get something earlier.

"I think our brand and style of coffee works really well with Jarrold and it's great to get our speciality blends here."
