A band of Vikings and Saxons invaded a Norfolk village on Saturday.
More than 100 people braved the rain to meet the marauders from the Ordgar Saxon and Viking Reenactment Group at Seething and Mundham village hall.
Families were given the chance to experience what a Viking village would have been like, dress like a raider, and try out some of the heavy weaponry.
The interactive event also provided people with the chance to get up close to village life from a thousand years ago.
The Elden of Ordgar said: "Twenty local Vikings spent the weekend camping in Viking tents in the pouring rain.
"Thank goodness for mead and campfires.
"This was the first event held at our new training ground, and it was a huge success, with many people asking if they would be returning next year.
"A plan is already underway for a bigger return in 2024."
Established in 2011, Ordgar Saxon and Viking Reenactment Group researches the eighth to eleventh centuries, portraying the warfare, the dress, crafts and everyday life of the Anglo-Danish culture of that period.
