A Norfolk parachutist is living the high life as part of the elite RAF Falcons team, which performs displays across Europe every summer.

Michael Reeve, 30, has been part of the 13-strong team for two years, who jump from aircraft using coloured smoke.

Mr Reeve, the officer commander for the 2023 season, grew up in Hevingham and Aylsham and attended Aylsham High School and Reepham College.

He then did a BSc in Sports Science at Anglia Ruskin University and a PGCE at the University of East Anglia, going on to teach PE at City Academy Norwich.

He joined the RAF in 2017, initially as a training officer before being selected for the Falcons.

Mr Reeve lives in Norwich, but he barely goes home during the summer season, which runs from April to October, with up to 70 shows across Europe.

His highlights over the last two years include the 2023 British Grand Prix at Silverstone and homecoming shows in Norfolk.

This includes the Royal Norfolk Show and on July 29 and 30 the RAF Falcons will be at Old Buckenham Airshow, with tickets still on sale.

He said: "We get so well received in Old Buckenham and it is awesome that my family and friends can come along - I grew up with my dad and grandad taking me to airshows.

"Initially, I got scared jumping out of aircraft but now I am more wary of putting on a good display rather than the parachuting itself."

At the end of the 2023 season, he will have done around 700 jumps and he is also leaving the Falcons for a new job as a parachute liaison officer.

He added: "I wouldn't have believed you if you told me I would be doing this when I was younger - it was very much a pipedream."
