A café in Cromer is being taken over by a regular after the owner was diagnosed with breast cancer.

JJ's, which Kate Ellis opened in February of last year, has been taken on by Mark Humphreys and renamed Leah's.

The 52-year-old said: "I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and am taking a step back to recover.

"While I do that, Mark will take over - keeping the ethos I've built over the last 18 months.

"It's been really hard for everyone recently which is why we introduced the cost of living menu and cheap children's meals.

"I'm proud we've been able to keep it going and help people."

Ms Ellis met Mr Humphreys when he came in on the opening day of JJ's.

"We just clicked and became friends," she added.

"He was a chef and became an ordained minister and writer. His son will also be helping him in the front of house.

"I couldn't ask for a better person and Mark will do amazing things.

"He'll be opening it on Saturday as Leah's and I wish him every success in the world."

The café in Meadow Road is open from 9am to 4pm every day.
