A group of high schoolers made their way to their end-of-term prom in style with a ride in an armoured combat vehicle.

The teenagers were spotted atop the turret of a CVRT (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance, Tracked), adorned with rosettes and corsages.

Jeremy Whigham spotted it rumbling down Mileham Road in Litcham, with the year 11 students on board.

Developed in the 1960s and used in the Falklands War, more than 3,000 CVRTs were produced.

Today, decommissioned units are available to purchase privately, use on UK roads, and even hired for events.

A similar vehicle was recently spotted parked outside a Tesco supermarket in Stalham, which photographer Mr Benbow said was "not something you see every day".
