A Victorian church room in a small Norfolk village could be converted into a bookshop.

Plans to turn the building, also known as The Old School, in Old Buckenham into a shop and café have been submitted to Breckland Council.

The property sits to the west of All Saints church, on the corner of Crown Road and Church Lane.

The application was submitted by Lucie Riches of Book Bubble, an independent online seller.

While a planning statement said the principal use will be as a bookshop and café, Ms Riches said she would also like to sell health foods and for the site to be an “eco refill shop”.

She also wants to host literary and community events and exhibitions.

Currently, the building is used by All Saints church for occasional church and community events.

Ms Riches’ website said her dream is to one day open her own physical bookshop and that she started selling secondhand books in her spare time.

Old Buckenham is a small village, with just 529 homes at the 2011 census.
