A former school teacher who was jailed for a sexual assault on one of his pupils will never teach again, a panel has ruled.

Henry Golding was jailed following a sexual assault in which he "cupped the bottom" of a teenage pupil while teaching at Flegg High Ormiston Academy in Martham.

He was then found to have 209 sexually explicit images of children on his laptop and sentenced to jail in November 2021.

Now, the 34-year-old has been indefinitely banned from returning to the profession following a misconduct panel held by the Teaching Regulation Agency.

And in a rare move, the regulator has also banned him from ever applying to restore his eligibility to teach.

The panel heard that the sexual assault had occurred on November 15, 2019, when Golding was acting as an "informal mentor" for a pupil at the school.

It heard he had "ran his fingers up and down the student's left thigh" and "cupped his bottom".

The TRA report reads: "While Mr Golding has now stated that he is sorry for his actions, and appears to have developed some insight into the impact of his actions, the panel has not seen any evidence of the remedial steps he has taken to address his offending behaviour and provide assurance of the risk of repetition.

"This was of concern, particularly when Mr Golding initially sought to deny the sexual assault and stall the school's disciplinary hearing."

Following Golding's conviction, his victim told Norwich Crown Court that the incident had left him "shocked and embarrassed" and that he had felt "betrayed" by the teacher.

The victim's mother told the same court: "We as his parents feel very angry. We trusted his school teacher to keen him safe."

Golding was jailed for 17 months and ordered to sign the sex offenders record for 10 years.
