Plans have been lodged to build four new holiday homes in a Norfolk village.

The proposed site in Lynford is within an existing complex of holiday cottages nestled in the sprawling Thetford Forest.

Developers want to build three one-bed homes and one two-bed at Lynford Cottages as well as expand the car park to offer 16 spaces to visitors.

Clayland Estates, who has made the application to Breckland Council, has said it wishes to expand the number of holiday lets due to high demand from visitors for its existing properties on the site.

The proposals will expand the Lynford Gardens site created in 2016, which transformed former worker's cottages for staff at the nearby Lynford Hall into holiday accommodation.

The surrounding area is popular with visitors every year who head to this part of west Norfolk to explore the vast Thetford Forest.

Thetford is one of the fastest-growing towns in the county and a number of major developments will significantly increase its population, with 5,000 homes to the northeast expected to be completed by 2029.

The decision on the proposal will be made by Breckland Council on August 8.
