A Norwich restaurant's frozen food business saw off competition from household names to win two national awards.

Farmyard Frozen, which delivers nationally, was launched in May 2021 by couple Hannah Springham and Andrew Jones, who have run Farmyard restaurant in St Benedicts Street since 2017.

It has been a whirlwind of a week for the entrepreneurial duo as they are moving the frozen arm into a huge new home and attended The British Frozen Food Federation Awards on Thursday night (June 15) in London.

Brushing shoulders with bosses from the likes of M&S, Aldi and Waitrose, the pair were just happy to be nominated.

The first award Farmyard Frozen won was the Retail Gold Award for Best Dessert for its Gold Bar.

The second one was the Retail Innovation Award, which was a huge surprise as there are no nominees and it is chosen solely by the judges.

Hannah Springham said: "It was out of this world and jaw-dropping to win two awards.

"To win the innovation prize in an industry we are new to is an amazing thing - we want to disrupt the market and change the misconceptions about frozen food."

The pair also announced this week that they are moving production from the Norfolk Showground to Broadland Food Innovation Centre in Easton, which opened in September 2022.

They first heard about plans for the site five years ago when they met project lead Clarke Willis MBE at the Royal Norfolk Show, who wanted to create Norfolk's "Silicon Valley of food".

Mrs Springham added: "The Norfolk Showground has been an incredible launch pad for us but we’ve well and truly outgrown their catering kitchen and this move marks a big step up.

"It is our dream home and it gives us scope to grow significantly."
