A salon has blown the competition away by snatching up a coveted national award.

The Hair Base, one of Gorleston's longest-serving salons, was awarded the Best Customer Service Salon award at the 2023 Salon Business Award in London.

The Hair Base beat stiff competition from hundreds of salons and entries across the UK and Ireland, with the team placing as finalists in four categories including Ultimate Salon, Best Local Salon, and Digital Salon.

The awards were judged by an expert panel of industry leaders who praised the salon's client-focussed campaigns, especially its "Menopause Mayhem" campaign, designed to open up a conversation and advice about menopause.

Hair Base owner Emma Jarvis, said: "It's a bit surreal, to be honest.

"To receive such a highly sought-after award and to be named as a top national salon is just wonderful and reflects the salon ethos and hard work and dedication of the whole team."

Last year, the team scooped up six regional awards from the same organisation, and said winning this year's national award was the "next big step".

Ms Jarvis first set up the salon in 1999 with "£1,800 and a pair of scissors", with a clear vision for a community-based business, promising more innovative campaigns to propel standards in the industry forward in the near future.

She added: "Excellent customer service is the cornerstone of The Hair Base experience.

"We love giving our customers the best service possible and always strive to give them the most comfortable and tailored experience we can - thank you, Gorleston."
