A moped was stolen before being set on fire in a shelter on Gorleston seafront.

Norfolk Police are investigating the suspected theft of a white Lexmoto and arson at a shelter on the town's lower esplanade on Sunday, June 4.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service were called at 4.55am to the blaze.

One appliance from Gorleston attended the fire and the crew used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire as well as a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

The fire service informed the police at 5.33am.

William Kerrison, 55, from Gorleston, was out walking when he saw the damage to the shelter.

He said: "It's a shame. There should be more police out there walking at that time of night."
