A city Indian restaurant has warned it and many businesses like it will close if trade continues to dwindle.

Monty Ali, 52, issued the stark warning over ailing trade at Rishi Indian restaurant, located in Mousehold Lane.

In a social media post on Saturday, he wrote: "Recently we proudly announced we are staying open and we have been a huge part of Sprowston and Norwich for 14 years.

"We had a huge response from people when we announced we were staying open earlier in the year but where are they now?

"Where is the support for local independent restaurants?"

The restaurant saw its trade hit late last year when confusion surrounding the sale of the building spread rumours it had closed

"We understand the cost of living crisis but without supporting businesses there will be no one left," Monty continued. "We are certainly not alone in this either.

"I put my life into making Rishi work for my staff and family and we need to see our tables being used.

"We have won awards previously and know we are well-loved by our customers.

"Please, please support local businesses."

"This is a call to arms to support all restaurants like ours."
