A former auction room in a seaside town is set to be turned into a home.

West Norfolk council has agreed planning permission to convert the building off Church Street, in Hunstanton.

Proposals were submitted by a developer named in council papers as S Sampson for a new three-bed property in the building, which is set back from the road alongside No 42.

Hunstanton Town Council supported the plans. Its chair of planning Paul Kidd said: "The reasons for our support are that we as a town council feel that application fits in with the future vision and plans for the town, moving forward it also fits into our neighbourhood plan."

Norfolk County Council's highway officers also did not object to the proposals, because they would not affect the free movement of traffic.

The building sold at auction for £159,000 - almost twice its expected guide price - last July.

Auctions were originally held on its ground floor, with stock stored above.
