A woman in her 70s has died following a crash near Downham Market.

Emergency services were called to the A1122 at Salters Lode just before 9pm on May 19 to reports of a two-car crash.

The incident involved a silver Seat Leon travelling towards Nordelph and a white Hyundai i20 heading towards Downham Market.

The passenger in the Hyundai, a woman in her 70s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn where she was pronounced dead.

The Leon driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains.

The Hyundai driver was also injured.

Police are appealing for information and are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle beforehand.
