A vibrant yellow crop often seen in Norfolk may seem harmless but it could hold a hidden danger to dogs, experts have warned.
Rapeseed, also known as canola, is a common crop grown for its oil. Dog walkers across Norfolk can enjoy the picturesque fields but must be aware of the potential hazards it poses to our pets.
In some cases, the plant can cause respiratory issues and gastrointestinal upset.

A spokesman for Dogs Trust said: "If dogs ingest rapeseed then they can develop gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal tenderness.
"There have also been reports about skin reactions that rapeseed may cause. This cutaneous reaction appears to occur when a dog runs through fields of rapeseed and can be severe but does not happen to every dog and is fortunately rare."
However, it is important to note that many dogs remain asymptomatic after coming into contact with rapeseed and that any gastrointestinal issues are "generally mild in nature".
