Seven new low-energy homes could be built in a Norfolk village.

Developer Jasbir Singh Anota has applied for outline planning permission to develop land off Station Road, in East Winch, near King's Lynn.

He says in a planning statement: "Currently, the Earth is already about 1.1°C warmer than it was in the late 1800s, and emissions continue to rise.

"To keep global warming to no more than 1.5°C – as called for in the Paris Agreement – emissions need to be reduced by 45pc by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, we need efficient housing now.

"One area proposed for this site is the quality of construction, and all components that will have a design life in excess of 100 years, this improves the embodied carbon element of construction.

"All the proposed houses will have the reception rooms and bedrooms predominately on the southern side of the structures. All roofs will have a southern aspect enabling efficient PV panels to contribute towards green energy."

A decision is expected from West Norfolk council later this year.
