The King’s charm, wisdom and love of nature have been touched on in a new poem by a man described as ‘Norfolk’s patriot poet’.
John Bush, a Sheringham businessman, singer and former councillor, has penned the piece, called ‘To King Charles III’ to commemorate the monarch’s coronation.
In the poem, Mr Bush, 75, describes the King as ‘committed like mother, forthright like father’ and ‘loved’ from the northern Highlands to Commonwealth islands.
Mr Bush said the poem had already been “very well received” by the public.
He said: “Everybody who reads it had been very satisfied and excited. I am a similar age to him, so I was able to write through his life, from when he was a prince to now that he is the King.”
Mr Bush will read the poem at a church service in Upper Sheringham on Sunday, and a copy has been sent to the King.
He said: “I’m sure His Majesty will not have received any other poems like this.”
Mr Bush previously wrote six poems about the Queen.
To King Charles III
On your Majesty’s Royal Coronation
Our nation, Sir, sends salutation.
From a Prince to a King
Care and joy still to bring.
Dedication to nature
In every creature.
A Sovereign with charm
For a Reign of calm.
Committed like Mother,
Forthright like Father.
Keeping our Kingdom
Shielded through Wisdom.
Chief Charity Patron
Of unique inspiration.
Loved from northern Highlands
To Commonwealth islands,
Millennial Monarchy.
God Save Your Majesty
