Three new visitor hubs are to be installed across the Broads National Park - with plans for 22 to be built in the next three years.

The seafront at Great Yarmouth, Salhouse Broad and Beccles Quayside will be the first to receive the Discovery Hubs, which will be built by the end of May.

Once completed, it is hoped the project will raise £100,000 per year from visitor donations.

Peter Howe, a trustee of The Broads Charitable Trust, said: “There are many areas of the Broads National Park that await discovery by both local people and visitors and it is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor activities – walking, sailing, canoeing, and appreciate the restorative powers of nature.

“Our aim is to improve access to all the hidden gems of the Broads by providing information and inspiration on ways to access and travel through the national park – on foot, by bike or on the water.”

The Broads Charitable Trust says each Discovery Hub will be unique in design and offer opportunities for local businesses to sponsor the scheme.

A dedicated ranger contracted by the trust will provide visitors, locals and young people with new ways to engage with the national park.

The project will also give opportunities for visitors to donate much-needed funds to the Broads Charitable Trust via its Love the Broads scheme which provides a mechanism for people to support sustainable projects in the area.

Mr Howe added: “The Discovery Hubs will give our visitors and local people information about the flora, fauna and ecology of the Broads as well as other areas of interest.”

"They will be a major source of information on walks and trails, bike rides and journeys by water, enabling everyone to enjoy the unrivalled beauty of the Broads”.
