Norfolk’s largest businesses help drive the local economy forward and create jobs for many people across the county.

Their achievements are recognised by the Large Business of the Year award, sponsored by FRP Advisory, at the Eastern Daily Press Business Awards 2023.

“We have worked with many amazing businesses in the region over the years, but many people, including our local future talent, are unaware of them,” said Joanne Price, category judge and associate director, financial advisory at FRP.

“These awards not only provide recognition of the achievements and contributions of large businesses in the region, but also help promote these organisations and the region as a great place to work and do business.”

Mrs Price added that the awards are an opportunity for businesses to recognise the contribution of their whole team in driving growth.

“Winning the award can benefit the business’ reputation and help promote it to the future workforce,” she said. “It also allows leaders to step back and reflect on their journey to date, and where they go next.

“Many businesses in the region will have seen improved financial performance in the last year for a number of reasons,” she added.

“However, I’d like to see businesses articulate specific strategies which have driven business growth, how they have managed any change, and how they have developed the infrastructure and grown their workforce to support growth.”

Mrs Price said large businesses “need to be able to deal with change to keep up with the competition”, which will “often mean being innovative and doing something different, especially in the face of financial challenges seen in recent years”.

It’s also important for businesses to consider their carbon footprint, she added.

“Large businesses set an example to entrepreneurs and new entrants,” she said.  “Customers and new employees are also increasingly looking for businesses who minimise their environmental impact.”
