Enjoy a coffee and cake overlooking the marshes from a converted tricycle on the Norfolk coast.

The Norfolk Coffee Pedlar is based along East Harbour Way in Burnham Overy Staithe and it is run by Sandy Nunes Vaz, 57, and David Kelly, 62.

The couple set it up last year after both their careers had been impacted by Covid - running educational courses and working as a market data systems auditor respectively.

They spotted a gap in the market in the coastal hotspot for somewhere serving coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cakes and converted a former ice cream tricycle.

Ms Nunes Vaz said: "Many people had said about a lack of options in Burnham Overy Staithe for refreshments, so we looked at how to meet that need in an environmentally-friendly way.

"We didn't want to use disposable cups because of the litter risk, so I asked Vicky Mijnlieff, my ceramicist friend from Aylsham, to make some cups inspired by the marshes."Immediately after we started using them, customers were asking to buy the cups so we asked her if she would make some more."

Fast forward to 2023 and they now have five ceramicists on board, with the others Mariya Akhpasheva, Izzy McFarlane, Ellie Perry and Jane Welch.

The coffee is sourced from Symposium Coffee in Norwich, with oat milk available for no extra charge, and Mr Kelly makes the cakes, ranging from Victoria sponge to lemon drizzle.

Ms Nunes Vaz added: "Everyone borrowing the cups while they go for a walk has been so respectful and no one has stolen them.

"I don't know anyone else doing this and the lovely comments we get are so heartwarming."

The Norfolk Coffee Pedlar aims to be out every sunny day until the middle of September - check social media for updates.
