From roast dinners to three-course menus, here are seven places in Norfolk where your dog can dine like royalty. 

1. Doggie Diner, Cromer

Rated by reviewers on Tripadvisor as the best café in Cromer, visitors can treat their pet to dinner at "the most dog-friendly cafe in the UK".

Its dog menu ranges from £2 to £10, with options including quick treats to a three-tiered afternoon tea.

Afternoon teas for owners are also available, alongside a locally-sourced range of cakes, paninis and sandwiches.

2. The King's Arms, Ludham 

Where: High Street, Ludham, NR29 5QQ

The local pub in Ludham launched a menu for canines last year.

Options include a roast dinner, with chicken or fish, and sausage and mash for £3.

It also offers bagged dog treats for £1.20.

The dog menu is available every day alongside the human menu which features deep-fried cod in crispy batter, fajitas and a traditional roast dinner.

3. The Crown Inn, Pulham

One of the grandest dog menus in the county can be found in Pulham, where starters, mains, doggy roasts, desserts and drinks are on offer.

Dogs can enjoy a 'puppaccino' or a 'posh pooch wine' to wash down their starter of crispy pig's ear, followed by a main of sausage, vegetables and gravy.

Desserts include a 'pawpop' or doggy ice cream pot. 

4. Swirl, Wells-next-to-the-sea

Where: 88 Staithe Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, NR23 1AQ

Mimi Emmett, 29, opened Swirl in Staithe Street in Wells-next-the-Sea in 2020 after leaving her job as a jewellery designer.

Swirl has now reopened for the summer season, with her dog ice-creams proving a massive hit.

Known for its soft-served ice cream with toppings and frozen drinks, humans can get their summer treat fix at Swirl too.

5. Centre Paws

Where: Barnards Farm, Barnham Broom Road, Wymondham, NR18 0RR

Four-legged friends are more than welcome at The Farm Café near Wymondham.

After launching its well-known 'pupcakes', the owner of the on-site Centre Paws café, Tom Boggan, has put snacks on the menu for canine customers from doggy roast dinners to dog beer.

The Farm Café has become the heart of the canine centre which has expanded to house a number of other businesses from grooming to a new hydrotherapy pool.

6. The Icecream Float

Where: River Bure, River Ant and River Thurne

The ice cream boat has been a mainstay of the Broads for many years and in August 2022 it was bought by Pam Robinson, 50, and renamed The Ice Float.

Miss Robinson has spent the winter giving it a big revamp with bright pink paint and giant ice cream at the front. 

She offers strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with a weekly special and vegan option too, plus lollies, including ones for dogs, and treats from The Fudge Lady.

7. The Hungry Otter

Where: Salhouse Broad, Lower Street, Salhouse, NR13 6RX

This food van at Salhouse Broad offers 'pupsicles' for your pooch after a refreshing walk next to the water.

Founder Helen Williams runs the café after 20 years of teaching at Paston College.

Flavours on offer include blueberry, apple and sweet potato, carrot, spinach and pea and pumpkin and coconut. 

Owners can enjoy barista coffee, a variety of teas, cakes, sandwiches and ice creams.
