A Norfolk distillery renowned for its famous gin is ‘schnapping’ back with a new drink.
Fakenham-based Black Shuck Distillery, run by Patrick and Sarah Saunders, is launching a range of four fruity schnapps drinks today (April 7).
The flavours - all created with real fruits - are strawberry and lime, passionfruit and lime, coconut and pineapple, and banana and toffee.
Mr Saunders said the distillery aimed to trends rather than copy others.
“Being a small team enables us to be reactive to changing situations such as when we adapted the distillery to make hand sanitiser during covid,” he said.
“Equally importantly, we can act on our instincts to bring new products to the shelves.
“In a highly competitive food and drink industry it is great to set a trend rather than waiting to follow in the wake of others.”
Black Shuck is marking its 11th anniversary this year. The business also involves the couple's children, Leanne, Nicola and William.
The company takes its name from the legendary but ghostly black dog said to roam Norfolk, and it produces a selection of gins, rums, vodkas and liqueurs.
Mrs Saunders said they were thrilled to be adding schnapps to their range.
She said: “They can be enjoyed on their own, as a shot, with a mixer or as a key ingredient in your favourite cocktail.
"This totally unique concept was Nicola’s idea and it has been a key aspect of the collection’s development.
The drinks will be sold online and at the Holkham Easter Market this weekend (April 8 and 9).
They are also available from Jarrold in Norwich, the Norfolk Deli in Hunstanton, Green Pastures at Bergh Apton near Norwich, Alexandra’s Deli in Wells, Satchells of Burnham Market, Beers of Europe near King’s Lynn and Pensthorpe, near Fakenham.
