A city pub is reopening this week after being closed for refurbishment this month.

The Trafford Arms is opening midday today (Thursday, March 30) with an updated modern look.

Changes which have been made to the pub include the colours and fabrics in the interior and new high tables and sofas for customers to relax in.

Al Dente pasta bar, which has a site in St Giles Street, will be serving food at the pub in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday.

The restaurant, run by director Adriano Turco, is set to serve Italian classics “with a vibrant pub twist” from Thursday, April 6.

Mr Turco said: "We're excited to be able to share our passion to bring simple, well-cooked, flavourful Italian food to a wider audience.

"The Trafford has such a great reputation and is popular with all ages so it fits perfectly with our ethos of making delicious and enjoyable food."

The Sunday roast menu is available from Saturday, April 8. Dishes include a 'Swannington Porchetta' with herb-roasted pork belly, stuffing and onion gravy. They also have a 'Wild Mushroom and Porcini Wellington' with all the trimmings.

Since taking on the pub in 2015, Nick and Briony De’Ath, who also own the Unthank Arms and the Warwick Arms, have maintained the traditional community feel of the pub but decided it was time for a change.

Briony De'Ath said: "Our customers have been asking us to bring back food to the pub and when we got the opportunity to work with Adriano we knew that this would be something our customers would love.'

The pub will also be welcoming Churros & Chorizo food truck and Luca Pizza's every week, alongside the dishes served by Al Dente Pasta Bar.
