A man who died following a medical emergency on the A1065 near Swaffham has been named.

The inquest into the death of Tudor Philip Graeme Dalby was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on Wednesday, March 29.

The court heard how Mr Dalby, 51, had been driving from Suffolk to near Swaffham with his mother, Penelope Elliston, on September 4, 2022.

Ms Elliston said that her son had complained of feeling unwell and was sick but refused an ambulance.

Shortly after, at around midday, his car left the road and Mr Dalby began “gasping for breath”.

Paramedics were called and when they arrived began giving CPR, but Mr Dalby died at the scene

A postmortem gave the medical cause of death as cardiac arrhythmia due to amphetamine use and ischemic heart disease, and systemic hypertension.

Assistant coroner Samantha Goward confirmed that Mr Dalby was born on June 27, 1971 in Colchester, Essex, and lived at School Lane in Bardwell near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

The inquest has been adjourned to determine the official cause of death on May 24.
