The inquest into the death of a north Norfolk businessman who died earlier this month has been opened.

Rodney Keith Coxall, of Blickling Road in Oulton, near Aylsham, died on Thursday, March 16 at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Area coroner, Yvonne Blake, speaking to the court on the morning of Tuesday, March 28 confirmed that Mr Coxall had been employed as a company director at a city firm. 

Mr Coxall was identified by his son, Scott Coxall, who stated that his father was born on June 25, 1948, in Norwich.

Following a post mortem examination, the medical cause of death was given as ischemic heart disease due to severe coronary heart disease following an operation on a fractured ankle on Thursday, March 16, with a previous history of an esophagectomy in 2019. 

Mr Coxall died aged 74.

The opening of the inquest was held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court at County Hall.

A full inquest to determine the official cause of death is due to take place on Wednesday, September 20.
