A motorcyclist died after suffering several serious injuries in a crash on one of Norfolk's busiest roads, an inquest has heard.

Christopher Hewitt died on March 15 this year following a crash on the A47 at North Tuddenham.

An inquest into his death opened on Monday, March 27, at the coroners' court in Norwich.

It heard that Mr Hewitt was 55 and was born in Wendover, in Buckinghamshire.

He lived in Brussels Close in Dereham, was married to Hazel Hewitt and worked as a lorry driver.

During the short hearing, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake said that he had died at the scene of the crash and that his medical cause of death was extensive injuries due to a road traffic collision.

The crash happened at around 8.30am at the Honingham roundabout near North Tuddenham and involved a light goods vehicle and a motorcycle.

It saw the main road closed for several hours while police carried out investigations of the scene.

The van driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

A full inquest into Mr Hewitt's death has been scheduled for September 12 this year.
