A Norwich doctor who left six women feeling "violated" by sending them sexually explicit images of himself has had his medical licence suspended.

James Richard White, who qualified as a doctor in 2015, sent unsolicited photographs and videos to six of his former medical school coursemates.

The shocking messages included photographs of his penis and videos of him masturbating, which were shared with his victims through various social media platforms.

After two of the women, also doctors, highlighted their concerns with the General Medical Council, Dr White - GMC reference number 7493690 - was brought before a misconduct tribunal.

This investigation led to four other women sharing similar experiences of Dr White's behaviour - each report including explicit messages and "cyber-flashing".

Following the hearing a panel suspended his licence for 12 months.

One of the women, Dr B, told the panel: "Watching the video made me feel violated.

"It has made me more wary of people - even if it is a polite colleague, I can be uncertain as to what material they may decide to send me."

Another of the woman, Ms F, said she was left "shocked, confused, uncomfortable and embarrassed".

While Dr White did not attend the hearing, he provided the panel with a statement in October 2022.

He said: "I will never practice medicine again, not for my genuine love of patients, but for my failures and mistakes in a younger period of my life.

"I loved speaking with patients and have received several letters about my positive impact upon their care and lives, but I don't want this to distract from the harm I've caused to fellow colleagues.

"There is no turning back from that and I will never forgive myself for my actions."

Dr White graduated from the University of East Anglia's medical school in 2015 and was registered in 2016.

He worked in the Norwich area but did not provide the tribunal with details of his subsequent workplaces.
