With a thriving farm shop and family fun park, Rob and Becca Hirst should be happier than ever.

But the couple behind the booming enterprises at their family farm in Hemsby and Ormesby St Margaret face a heartbreaking reality.

Mrs Hirst, 29, is now unable to work at Hirst's Farm Shop and Café, which opened in May 2021, due to her deteriorating health.

She was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in August 2021, which is rare and affects connective tissues.

Mr Hirst said: "She had been having a lot of pain all over but as we had been building the café we put it down to exhaustion.

"She then had an accident at the farm and we thought it was a broken rib so took her to the James Paget.

"She was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer so they gave her chemotherapy and it was horrendous - she lost her hair and got sepsis but after six months she went on to have two clear scans.

"But 12 months after her diagnosis it came back and could not be treated and only managed."

She stopped chemotherapy in December 2022 and is now being looked after at home.

But her determination to help others has seen the couple raise almost £3,000 for the charity Sarcoma UK with various events.

The Spring Craft Fair takes place on May 13 and May 14 from 9.30am to 3pm, with local crafts, gifts and a raffle.

Hirst's Farm Shop and Café recently had an extension to double its capacity and it is called Becca's Barn in her honour.

Mr Hirst added: "The shop is going from strength to strength and Becca is loving hearing about its success.

"There have been some serious lows but we are making the most of the time we have."
