A Norfolk airshow will reach new heights this summer when it welcomes the Red Arrows for the first time.

The Old Buckenham Airshow returns to Old Buckenham Airfield over the weekend of July 29 and 30, with a jam-packed programme both in the air and on the ground.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, better known as the Red Arrows, will perform one of its iconic full displays on Saturday.

Matt Wilkins, event organiser, said: "We are enormously grateful to the Royal Air Force, Ministry of Defence and the Secretary of State for this extraordinary show of support.

"Thanks to them, we are able to place a final tick in our wish list and July 29 will see the culmination of over a decade's work - taking the airshow from a village fete to a world-class event."

For the third year in a row, the Typhoon fighter and bomber will appear on both days, arriving in customary style at 600mph.

Also returning is the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, who will once again open the show with an aerial ceremony.

One of the most emotional moments of each airshow comes courtesy of Sally B, the only B-17 Flying Fortress still flying outside of North America.

On July 29, in another first, another truly iconic bomber will make a return after more than 15 years.

The RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is sending their Lancaster Bomber, made famous by the Dambusters Raid and powered by four Rolls Royce Merlin engines.

In 2023, the Aerodrome, home of the UK’s first electric aircraft charging point, isn’t just concentrating on aviation icons to date.

The largest gathering of the machines which will power the future of flight is being worked on, including the Pipistrel Velis Electro.
