The last bingo hall in a seaside town has announced its closure ahead of the summer season.

Martin's Bingo at Oasis Amusements in Hemsby has been open for 45 years.

It was opened in 1978 by Martin and Verna Roberts and has been run alongside Oasis with the help of their children Scott and Mark.

Mark Roberts said: "It's been a massive part of all of our lives and hopefully we have given joy to the generations of families that have visited.

"It's been lovely to see that people will miss us and hear the memories of dad."

Mr Roberts said the closure has been prompted by things affecting the entire industry such as staffing and costs.

"Bingo has had a decline in popularity, there were once eight bingo halls in Hemsby," he said.

"Now it's just us and we're only busy about eight weeks a year.

"And it's generational too, young people aren't as interested and people don't have the money to spare.

"But on the bright side it will give us the opportunity to spend more time together as a family."

Oasis Amusements will be open as normal with an expanded prize shop and famiyl ticket area.
