A school where "pupils thrive" has been rated 'good' by the education watchdog.

Ofsted inspectors visited Litcham School, between Swaffham and Fakenham, in December.

Their report says: "Pupils thrive at Litcham School. They feel happy to be themselves.

"Pupils experience a well-thought-out curriculum. It is delivered highly consistently from class to class, ensuring that all pupils make progress in knowing and remembering more."

Inspectors found pupils learn to read quickly and achieve "particularly well" in maths and science.

But they add some struggle with their writing and spelling, which means "the quality of what they write does not reflect their good understanding of what they have learned".

Careers education is singled out as a strength of the school, on Druids Lane, which has 770 pupils.

Inspectors added: "Pupils are very clear on what options they have after leaving the school.

"They are ambitious and consider a wide range of next steps."

Safeguarding arrangements are also described as being of "a very high standard" at the school.
