The jury in the trial of three teenagers accused of stabbing to death an 18-year-old in Norwich have been discharged.

Cameron Palmer, 18, together with Hans Beeharry, 19, and Benjamin Gil, 19, are all charged with the murder of Joe Dix and have been on trial for four weeks.

Eastern Daily Press:

Mr Dix died after being stabbed in Vale Green, Mile Cross, shortly before 7pm on January 28 last year.

A fourth defendant, Yaman Uslu, 18, has been on trial accused of assisting an offender.

Eastern Daily Press:

On Thursday (February 2), the jury of seven women and five men were discharged by Judge Alice Robinson.

She said it was with "an extremely heavy heart" that a decision had been reached to "discharge you from reaching verdicts" in the case.

The trial started on January 4.

A fresh one is now scheduled to take place on July 31 this year.

The trial had heard prosecutors say Mr Dix was set upon shortly after leaving his nearby flat by a group connected to the "world of drugs" who were wearing balaclavas.

Mr Dix had gone out to help a friend who had called to say he was being robbed.

Eastern Daily Press:

The jury had heard Mr Dix's partner, Lauren Carr, had warned Mr Dix "don't get involved", but "obviously he went".

She said: "I did not see anyone, just heard all the shouting, I could not hear who it was.

"I just knew when he fell on the floor."

After rushing outside and calling emergency services, Miss Carr said "his insides were coming out" and "I just held him."

Miss Carr begged him not to die and made a 999 call at 6.57pm saying he had been stabbed.

Mr Dix received emergency treatment and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but was pronounced dead at 8.06pm.

Gil, of Lefroy Road, Beharry, of Bracondale, and Palmer, of Theobald Road, all deny murder and Uslu, of Hornor Close, Norwich, has denied assisting an offender.

Following Mr Dix's death, his family released a statement, through Norfolk police, stating: "Our world has been torn apart and Joe will be greatly missed by his family, girlfriend, many friends and his puppy.”
