A man who died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree near the A47 has been named. 

Philip John Robinson, aged 35, of Unwin Square, Cambridge, died after emergency services were called to the roundabout between the A47 and Elm High Road in Wisbech at 12.50am, January 15. 

A blue Audi S4 had been travelling along Elm High Road towards the roundabout when it left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

The accident came on the weekend that saw a spate of fatalities that saw six deaths on Norfolk's roads.

Mr Robinson, a project manager, died at the scene.

His partner, Lisa Jones, identified his body at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in King's Lynn on January 25.

The inquest into his death was opened on January 27 by senior coroner Jacqueline Lake, at Coroner's Court at Norfolk County Council, Norwich. 

A full inquest will take place on the afternoon of July 13 2023.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision or the manner of driving or anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch.
