A charity is set to host a volunteer open day in Dereham for anyone interested in taking up the role.

Age UK Norfolk will run the event at its shop in Yaxham Road on January 30. The charity's team will be on hand to talk with anyone interested in learning more about volunteering and the roles available.

The charity, which last year celebrated 75 years of supporting older people in Norfolk, has a variety of opportunities available, both long and short-term. Some roles require as little as 30 minutes a week and can be done from home.

Laura Hawkie-Chapman, volunteer co-ordinator for Age UK Norfolk, said: “We’re excited to open our doors and meet new people and help to develop those who are interested in taking the next steps on their volunteering journey.”

Open to anyone aged 18 and over, the open day will run 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Anyone interested in volunteering but unable to make the event can find more information at www.ageuk.org.uk/norfolk/get-involved/volunteer or by phone 01603 785 210 or email volunteering@ageuknorfolk.org.uk.
