Temporary barriers are back in place on a busy city centre street as work continues on a £6.1m project.

The planting of trees and vegetation in the new planters on St Stephens Street will begin today (January 9) and the last day of disruption will be on January 15.

During this time, the street will have a lane closure and a one-way system operating.

The one-way system will then change direction mid-way through the week to allow planting on the other side of the street.

From today, the road will be closed to all traffic coming from the St Stephens Street roundabout towards Red Lion Street for three days.

Eastern Daily Press:

First Bus services at six stands are suspended while works are under way and buses will operate instead via Queens Road and through the bus station.

Journeys travelling from the Red Lion Street end towards the roundabout are unaffected and will serve stops in St Stephens Street. The services will resume as usual on Thursday 12.

From Thursday 12, services at stands in the opposite direction will be suspended.

Journeys from the roundabout towards Red Lion Street are unaffected and will serve stops in St Stephens Street.
