A Norfolk pub which recently earned an AA rosette for culinary excellence has been recognised nationally once again for its food.

The Angel at Watlington, located between Downham Market and King's Lynn, was taken on and fully refurbished by couple Emily Phipps and chef Richard Crouch in 2018.

There is a big focus on local and seasonal produce, which has now been recognised at the Eat Game Awards 2023.

It is one of the 10 finalists in the best pub or restaurant category and needs your votes to get down to the final three, which can be done on the Eat Game website.

The couple is also offering a six-course game tasting menu on Friday, January 13 from 7pm for £40pp which shows off pheasant, partridge, pigeon, venison and wild duck as well as a pudding.

Ms Phipps said: "Game is one of the most underrated ingredients and with the current cost of living one of the most reasonably priced.

"To get to the final three would be incredible and would put Norfolk on the map again for its culinary standard."
