A beautician who set up her own business at home five months ago has been shortlisted for three awards.

Gorleston mother-of-two Lilly Rose Spelman launched Lillys Beauty Cabin on August 1.

Just five months into her new business in Burgh Road and the 27-year-old is celebrating being shortlisted in the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

She features in three categories - best gel nails, rising star and best new talent.

Mrs Spelman had trained in hair and media make up courses and went on to work at Urban Decay, Chanel and Estée Lauder counters in Norwich before starting her family.

While on maternity leave earlier this year she decided to launch her own business, which saw Mrs Spelman get a summer house cabin to turn into her salon, where she does nails and brows and lash work.

While admitting it was a tough time to start a new business, Mrs Spelman is delighted with how Lillys Beauty Cabin is going.

She said: "Just in December I would say I did about 40 people. In the Christmas week I had about 15 people.

"I have probably got about 20 customers who are regular."

Mrs Spelman says being shortlisted for the awards, being held in April, shows how people should try and achieve their dreams.

She said: "To just to get shortlisted for an award to me is just lovely to know I am doing the right thing. It gives a little boost.

"It makes me feel proud and goes to show you can do anything. My message is don't ever think it is not the right time.

"I would not have got to where I am now without my customers.

"I have loyal customers who are now my friends and if it was not for them I would not even have my business, let alone be shortlisted for awards like that.

"Just having the certificates and being shortlisted is enough for me as I am proud of just having that.

"I am not bothered if I go any further or not as I am happy with the recognition and support I have."
