An award-winning beauty and cosmetic business has been transformed since opening a store in Norwich's Royal Arcade.

Madeleine White, co-owner of Juni and Co, said that opening the shop "has transformed the business" and "couldn't have made it any better".

Although many retailers on the high street are struggling, for Ms White having a physical store has helped grow her company, which first launched as a website in April 2020.

She said: "Online is such a crowded space - you're competing with the big brands in terms of pay-per-click marketing and getting your name out there.

"This is especially true with colour cosmetics as it looks so different on everyone and every skin tone, so being able to try products in person makes a difference.

"It also allows us to make that consumer connection.

"People come in and quite often stay for a while to have a chat and tell us about their lives, so relationships with our customers have developed.

"We're loving it.

"It gives us the passion to carry on, whereas sometimes when you're sat behind a computer there's a bit of a disconnect."

A former model and trained make-up artist, Ms White, who owns Juni and Co with her mother, Suzanne, came up with the idea for the business after struggling to find beauty products that didn't make her sensitive skin break out in a rash.

The duo worked together to create a range of skincare products that are vegan, organic, and sustainable.

It proved a hit, especially after Ms White was approached by Vogue to appear in the fashion bible.

The brand has also won numerous awards, including CEW Young Achiever Award 2021.

This success caught the attention of the agents managing Royal Arcade, who invited the business partners to look at one of its empty units.

"We had no intention of actually taking it," said Ms White.

"We thought it would be too big of a risk and we only had our small range, but when we came and saw it and heard about their redevelopment plans, we thought we couldn't say no."

The recent opening of the food hall, Yalm, has also helped the business to grow.

"There's definitely been more people coming through and a different type of person as well.

"We're getting more young people and groups of friends, which is really nice," added Ms White.
