Prince Harry has recorded a special Christmas video message for bereaved military children who are members of a Norfolk-based charity.

Scotty's Little Soldiers, located in King's Lynn, is a charity for children of the British Armed Forces who have lost parents.

In the video, the Duke of Sussex is dressed as Spider-Man and shared a Christmas message which was played to members of Scotty's Little Soldiers at its annual festive party.

Harry, who was 12 when his mother Diana, Princess of Wales died in 1997, told the children: “Christmas is a time when we miss our loved ones really, really badly and that’s OK.

"But at the same time, it can be possible to feel guilty for having fun without our parents. But I am here to assure you that our parents always want us to have fun, OK?

"You are allowed to have the best time ever, especially with the Scotty’s Little Soldiers community.

"Go out there, have the best time and Merry Christmas."

The Christmas party, which was attended by more than 100 bereaved children and young people, provides Scotty’s members with an opportunity to meet others in the same situation as them.

The charity was set up by war widow Nikki Scott in 2010, following the death of her husband Cpl Lee Scott in Afghanistan the previous year.

She saw the devastating impact on their two young children and wanted to help others in the same situation.

Jamie Small, 14, who was eight years old when his dad Corporal Christopher Small died in 2016, said: "It’s pretty cool that Prince Harry supports Scotty’s.

"He has taken the time to record a special message for us which means a lot.”

While 12-year-old Emily Reynolds, who was seven years old when her dad Sergeant Antony Reynolds died in 2018, said: “It’s cool that someone who’s been through the same experience as us is thinking about us.

"He’s not just someone who’s trying to be sympathetic, he actually knows what it’s like to grow up without your parent.

"My friends think it’s really cool that I get letters and messages from Prince Harry.”

Prince Harry has a long-standing relationship with Scotty’s Little Soldiers and previously recorded a message at their Christmas party in 2019 while dressed as Father Christmas.
