Viewers of BBC One's regional programming are set to get an enhanced watching experience next year.

BBC Look East, which covers the east of England and is based at The Forum in Norwich, will be available in high-definition (HD) as part of a national roll-out.

This is expected to be completed by April 2023 and it will give people living in England with Freesat, Freeview, Sky or YouView devices a better viewing and audio experience.

Kieran Clifton, BBC director of distribution, said: “By spring next year, viewers in England will be able to receive BBC One HD for their region and not have to tune away to watch their local news and programming."

There have been major shake-ups at BBC Look East this year, with the Cambridge version ending and merging with the Norwich programming.

An overhaul of the BBC's local radio service was also announced last month, with more shared content planned.
