From colours promoting health and wellness to earthy shades helping you reconnect with nature; we take a peek at what interior design trends we can expect to see next year.

“2023 promises to be a year of putting comfort first, with many of the hottest interior design trends focusing on how to create cosy, tranquil and multi-functioning spaces in your home,” reveals Tina Barkway, trading director at Aldiss in Norfolk.

“We’ll be seeing a lot of furniture pieces moving away from the minimalistic style that’s dominated in recent years, and instead being replaced with traditional, timeless items that invoke a sense of nostalgia,” adds furniture buying director, Vicky Jackson.

Below Vicky and Tina share the top home interior design trends to watch out for in 2023.

1. Natural shades of green will be fashionable for your home interior

“We’re seeing a revival of the colour green being used throughout all elements of home design,” Tina explains.

The blue-green tones of Aldiss' Tahiti three-seater sofa are ideal to create a serene, sophisticated living area.

“Many of the top colour palettes for 2023 will blend a mix of subtle tones, reflecting a connection with the natural world around us, and promoting a sense of positivity and good health.

“Green cabinet furniture is making a comeback, such as Aldiss’ Sorrento bed frame,” adds Vicky. “Its charming appearance will make a wonderful addition to any style of interior.”

2. Earthy terracotta tones are a popular colour choice for 2023

The next 12 months will see home interiors break away from monochromatic colour schemes and favour bolder tones such as terracotta.

Introducing a feature wall in this colour or adding furniture and accessories in orange and red tones can help bring your interior to life and reanimate your space.

“Since people began working from home, there’s been a renewed interest in adding decorative elements to walls, often as they feature in the background of video meetings,” Tina adds.

Tapestries, macrame and wall art featuring embroidery will be popular in 2023. The decorative styles, patterns and brighter colouring of these pieces are a great way to spruce up your home office and will make a great talking point in your next Teams call.

3. Bring the outdoors in with faux and real foliage

It’s no secret that our increased time indoors following the Covid-19 pandemic has inspired more people to find subtle ways they can bring a piece of the outside into their homes.

“Indoor plants are a great way and affordable way to transform your home’s interior and make a stunning addition to any room,” Tina says.

“They work well in home offices especially, helping to boost your mood and increase oxygen flow, which is ideal for helping you to remain focused and productive.”

4. Golden soft furnishings will enhance your living area and bedroom

“Gentle gold and sandy tones remain the go-to for home accessories and soft furnishings,” Tina says. “These rich shades are easier on the eye than the bolder metallics we’ve seen in previous years, but will still add depth and warmth to your home.”

Available in a range of colours, you can find a delightful shade that will freshen up your space while ensuring no light comes in when they are drawn. This is great for those that struggle to sleep during summer and will ensure you get a good night’s rest, no matter how bright it is outside.

To create an idyllic bedroom scene, finish it with the Morris & Co Severne bedding set.

“Paisley prints will make a resurgence over the next few months,” Tina adds. “The winding blooms and looping acanthus leaves of this Morris & Co bedding set will add a touch of elegance and vibrancy, while the 220 thread count sheets ensure maximum comfort.”

5. Warm browns and greys are perfect for creating intimate multifunctional areas

To prevent open-plan spaces from feeling too sparse, you can use clever colour combinations and furniture to add warmth and comfort.

The Ercol Sienna sideboard is the perfect place to store knick-knacks to prevent the room from getting cluttered and will add a distinctive finish to your space.

“It’s a good idea not to make these spaces feel overwhelming by introducing too much colour, instead using complementary shades of grey and brown can help you design a refined interior,” Vicky explains.

Aldiss’ Ercol Forli corner sofa with a chaise end, offers plenty of seating choices to create a living area ideal for hosting friends, enjoying a night in with family and getting on with work.

“Whatever home trends will emerge in 2023, the most important thing is to create an interior that suits your routine and design a space where you can truly be yourself,” Tina adds.
