With remote controlled tractors and machinery for young farming enthusiasts, hotly contested school vegetable growing competitions, mouth-watering local foods and inspiring cookery demonstrations, the food and farming area will be a key destination for visitors at this year's one-day event on Bank Holiday Monday at Blickling Park.

There will also be attractions for thrillseekers including a display by the Bolddog Lings motorcycle freestyle team, demonstration by the Chariots of Fire display team and flying display by the C-47 Dakota, all in the main ring.

Agriculture has always been at the centre of the show, but it wasn't until 2007 that a dedicated food and farming section was introduced under the chairmanship of that year's show president, Jonathan Deane.

Over the following years Clare Buxton, who has always bee involved in local agriculture, has 'grown' the section as head steward of food and farming.

There are three main sections to the food and farming area: the food hall and food hero competition, the cookery theatre and the farming and growing marquee.

The food hall started out in a small tent but is now one of the busiest parts of the show, with a range of high quality producers.

Food Hero Awards 2014 category winners will receive their prize at 11.15am from president Phillida Hurn, within the food and farming area, followed by the overall champion award and individual food hero prizes.

The cookery theatre will be one of the liveliest areas of the showground, with demonstrations and exhibitions running throughout the day.

Visitors can also find out about the work of local farmers and producers.

Tickets cost £15 per adult; accompanied children aged 16 and below and car parking is free. Discounted tickets can be bought online at http://theaylshamshow.co.uk. Gates open at 8am.
