It has been an enormous privilege to serve as the MP for North Norfolk over the last 16 years.

We have achieved such a lot in that time. Fighting to protect our local health services like Cromer Hospital. Securing funding for sea defence schemes to protect local communities. The first waiting time standards for mental health care, which I introduced as a minister. There's still a lot more to do.

Tomorrow, the contest is between me and a Conservative adviser who lives in London and has no record of working for people in North Norfolk.

All the signs still point to a Conservative majority in this election. But we need a strong alternative voice to challenge them on their under-funding of the NHS, their disastrous proposals for social care, and plans to cut spending on schools per pupil.

On Brexit, I have made my position clear. I accept the outcome of the referendum and will not seek to frustrate negotiations. The task ahead of us now is to fight for the best possible deal for the country and for North Norfolk – for our local businesses, jobs, and public services. I have been a passionate and dedicated champion for our community in Parliament. I will not be afraid to challenge ministers when it counts.

I have put heart and soul into this job. I want to keep fighting for our NHS, a fairer way of paying for social care, equality to people who suffer from mental ill health, better mobile and broadband coverage. With the support of local people, I can continue to do that.
