With reference to the roads issues that have been pretty much ongoing in recent weeks in the paper.

I have travelled around the country quite a bit and I always notice the very poor road conditions I experience as I come across the borders into Norfolk.

The north bound Attleborough bypass, which is a reasonably new road, is terrible but even worse is the apology for a road which is the Wymondham A11 bypass. It is really terrible.

This road is one of the few main arteries to Norwich and the beautiful Broads.

I do wonder what first time visitors to this area think of this road — they must be appalled! When the Attleborough bypass was completed I noted that someone complained about the poor quality in the EDP which provoked a reply from NCC stating that it was considered to be 'up to standard'.

From this I would surmise that NCC's standards are pretty low.

The Southern bypass between Postwick and the A140

junction, although been patched up in places, has big gaps between lanes which actually can throw a vehicle off line.

There is even a lump in the

road which is a result of a 'repair'!

My son drives around Britain as an articulated lorry driver and I asked him which roads in Britain he thinks are the worst and without a moment hesitation he said Norfolk's!

When we go down to Cornwall we often say that NCC should send the road builders to Cornwall to learn how to build roads properly.

I cannot see why NCC has to spend millions on a road to nowhere — the so called NDR when that money could have been better spent on making good what we've got.

What with poor quality roads and incorrect road signs I really do think NCC should hurry up and get its act together.
