Norfolk police are appealing for information after cash was stolen from a pub in Harleston.

It happened at The Cherry Tree on London Road around 7.15pm on Thursday, March 5, when a man has asked to collect fishing permit books and cash on behalf of an angling club and has shown the owner some ID using a false name.

The owner has handed over the books and a cash box containing more than £700.

The incident was reported to officers nearly three weeks later, when the secretary of the angling club went into the pub to collect the permit books and cash box and was told by the owner that they had already been taken.

The suspect is described as being white, around 5ft 11in tall, having short hair and glasses and was wearing a dark coloured flat cap, dark green combat trousers and a dark coloured waterproof type jacket. He drove off in a small red van.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, knows any information concerning it or recognises the man from the description should contact PC Andrew Birdsey at Diss Police Station on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
