Developers who want to build on a historic green space in Diss have announced a public consultation event to outline the controversial proposals.
Scott Properties has proposed building 24 retirement bungalows on currently private and undeveloped land in Diss Lawns, also known as Parish Fields, between Shelfanger Road and Mount Street.
Campaigners, including the group Parish Fields Friends, say the proposals failed to take into account the history of the site and its significance as one of the last remaining green spaces in the centre of the town.
The Essex-based developers is now to hold a public consultation at Diss Youth and Community Centre on Monday, July 15, from 4pm-7.30pm, to allow local residents to view and comment on the proposals.
Anyone who cannot make it to the event can see more about the proposals at www.diss.mscott.co.uk between 8pm on July 15 to 8pm on July 29.
