Fire crews from across South Norfolk were called in to tackle a large barn fire.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a blaze at an agricultural structure on Common Road at Bressingham at shorly after 1.30pm on Thursday, October 3.

Eight fire appliances, including crews from Diss, Harleston, East Harling, Hethersett and three engines from Thetford, were called in as part of efforts to bring the blaze under control.

A specialist water carrier unit from Hethersett as also attended the scene which broke out at a farm on the rural road north of the village of Bressingham, near Diss.

Common Road, which passes close to the structure, was closed to traffic by police prompting motorists including families on the school run to take diversions.

The blaze comes less than a week after a fire that engulfed 2,000 tonnes of straw in a storage building next to a piggery on Kenninghall Road at Bressingham.

Six crews, a water carrier and control unit were called in to deal with that fire on September 27.

It is not yet clear how the fire started.
