A Lowestoft man who downloaded child porn has been warned he is likely to receive a jail term when he is sentenced next month.

Before Ipswich Crown Court today was Mervyn Lockyer, 60, who admitted three offences of making indecent images of children in March this year.

He also admitted three offences of distributing indecent child images from January 2012 to December 2016, and one of attempting to cause or incite a child under-13 to engage in sexual activity.

Judge David Goodin adjourned sentencing for a pre-sentence report.

He said: 'The offences you have admitted are very serious which will in my judgement inevitably be met with a custodial sentence.'

The sentence could be suspended so Lockyer, of June Avenue, can attend a sex offenders' programme.

Lockyer, who has no previous convictions, was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register on an interim basis.
