In a move to help boost local businesses in the district and create a real Christmas Eve buzz, Waveney District Council has announced that parking will be free all day in all council-owned and managed car parks on December 24.
Christmas Eve can often be quieter day for trading – particularly as it falls on a Sunday this year - and the council is keen to support local businesses of all sizes.
Therefore Waveney has decided to remove charges for the whole day in the hope that people will take advantage of some last minute opportunities ahead of the big day.
Graham Catchpole, Waveney's cabinet member for operations and facilities, hopes it will provide an extra boost for shops, cafes and restaurants.
He said: 'We are entirely committed to boosting economic opportunities in Waveney and our businesses, no matter how large or small, really deserve support from local people. I hope that this offer makes Christmas Eve a special day for our hard working traders.'
