Treacherous conditions caused by snow and ice have led to a series of incidents on the roads today.

Numerous collisions occurred on the A12 during the early morning rush hour, including a two-car crash near the White Hart in Blythburgh at around 8.25am. No injuries were reported.

Elsewhere, a two-vehicle collision was reported on Long Meadow Walk in Carlton Colville at around 8.10am, before a similar two-vehicle crash on St Margaret's Road in Lowestoft at 8.50am. No serious injures were reported after either incident.

A spokesman for Suffolk police urged motorists to drive carefully, be patient and vigilant.

The Met Office has now issued a fresh weather warning for ice which is in place from 4pm on Tuesday until 11am on Wednesday.

The warning states: 'There will probably be icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths with some injuries possible from slips and falls.'
